A Segway, such as the Segway PT, has two operational speeds, with the "standard" achieving a top speed of 12.5 miles per hour. The secondary mode, known as "turtle" or "beginner" mode, has a top speed of 6 mph.

Segway is a maker of personal conveyances that have two wheels, run on battery power and are self-balancing. Depending on the model and other factors, such as terrain and the weight of the user, Segways can travel up to 24 miles before they need to recharge. Shifting weight backward and forward allows the user to control the direction of their travel, while hand controls allow the user to steer in either direction. The Segway debuted in 2001, and is used in countries around the world.
