Researcher John Dalton is only known by that name. He was born in Eaglesfiled, England, on September 6, 1766; he and his brother were both born color blind. He was a renowned chemist, physician and meteorologist.
Dalton is best known for his research into color blindness that helped him identify the hereditary characteristics of red-green color blindness. He read essays published by Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac and later published his own papers containing the law of partial pressures, which he named Dalton's law. Around the early 1800s, Dalton became the first person to demonstrate the nature of atoms in terms of weight measurement. Dalton died in 1844.
