The real name of author John Sanford is John Roswell Camp. As of 2015, Sanford has written 35 books, many of which have appeared on the bestsellers list.

Sanford was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Non-Deadline Feature Writing in 1986 and was also nominated for the award in 1980, but he did not win.

Sanford grew up in Iowa and received his bachelor's degree in 1966 in American Studies. He has also worked as a reporter for the United States Army and as a writer and editor for the Miami Herald. Sanford has been married twice and is the father of two children and grandfather to three kids.
