How long did it take to build a pyramid?

Egyptian pyramids often took 10 years or more to complete. According to the Greek historian Herodotus, the Great Pyramid at Giza was built in 20 years by 100,000 workers and was meant to be a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu.
Herodotus visited Egypt 2,000 years after the Great Pyramid was built, and the information he recorded was given to him by his Egyptian guides. However, because of the amount of time that had passed since the pyramid was built, Herodotus' information on the Great Pyramid may be incorrect. Modern engineers have suggested that the pyramid could have been built in less time, taking into consideration the technology available at the time of construction.
