What are Dinky Toys?

Dinky Toys were a series of die-cast miniature vehicles sold in England from 1935 to 1979. A wide range of vehicles were created, from luxury cars to military tanks and planes.

Dinky Toys were originally created and manufactured by Meccano Ltd. based out of Liverpool, England. The company focused on producing realistic models of everyday vehicles until World War II, at which time they expanded into military models. Production of Dinky Toys mirrored car trends in the real world, expanding to more sports and luxury cars in the 1950s and 1960s. As of 2014, the rights to Meccano's name and toys are held by Spin Master.
