What is the most popular Valentine's Day candy?

Chocolate products make up about 75 percent of Valentine's Day candy sales, making this by far the most popular candy for the holiday. This dark, sweet confection has been associated with love and romance for thousands of years, starting with the Aztecs in the 15th century.

The chocolate industry in America employed more than 30,000 people in 2009, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. As of 2010, National Geographic reported that Valentine's Day candy sales totaled more than 1 billion dollars, the majority of which was spent on chocolate. Just under half of the U.S. population gives or receives candy on February 14.
