To remove grease from wood cabinets, scrub with a solution of liquid detergent and warm water, then rinse the wood with water before applying a baking soda paste directly on the grease stains. Finally, scrub the stains, and rinse the cabinets with clean water.
- Create cleaning solution
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of grease-fighting liquid detergent with 2 cups of water. Gently stir until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
- Wash the cabinets
Dip a clean sponge or cloth in the cleaning solution. Scrub the grease stains gently. Do not use an abrasive sponge, as it may damage the wood surface.
- Rinse away the solution
Fill a spray bottle with cold water, and spray to rinse away the cleaning solution. Wipe the area dry with a clean towel.
- Create grease-fighting paste
Combine 1-part vegetable oil with 2-parts baking soda in a small mixing bowl. Stir the ingredients together until it becomes a paste.
- Apply paste to grease stains
With your fingers, apply a liberal coating of paste on grease stains. Allow the paste to soak for several minutes.
- Scrub the grease away
With a soft-bristled toothbrush, scrub the paste-coated grease stains in a circular motion.
- Wipe away the paste
Once the grease is removed, wipe away the paste with a clean paper towel.
- Rinse and dry the wood
Spray the cleaned area with cold water to remove leftover paste residue. Wipe dry with a clean towel.
