Before painting HardiePlank siding, make sure that all surfaces are clean and dry. Use a siliconized acrylic-latex caulk to seal joints, smoothing it with your finger. Use 100 percent acrylic paint, work from top to bottom and follow the grain pattern. HardiePlank siding is easy to paint because it's pre-primed.
