Borax can also be used in its powder form to control termites, and homemade termite bait is made by mixing two parts borax, two parts confectioner's sugar and one part cornmeal. Natural oils, such as orange, cedar, neem and eucalyptus oil, can also control termites and are non-toxic to humans and pets. Other home treatments for termites include cucumber peels, mint leaves and food-grade diatomaceous earth.
