What is an ICA file?

An ICA file is short for Independent Computing Architecture file and is an extension for files used by the application services under the Citrix brand. ICA files store configuration information that stores data linking servers and clients and allowing remote access of files on a remote server.
When a user is connected to a network, ICA files can be opened without having the Citrix application installed. Users connected to a supporting network can open ICA files without installing the Citrix application as it is run on a remote server. The file extension .ica is also to store graphics in a bitmap format by a range of graphic applications.
