According to ICD9Data, the ICD-9 code for pregnancy is V22.2. This is the code for a normal pregnancy with a single fetus. There are a number of additional ICD-9 codes related to pregnancy that specify a first pregnancy or a high-risk pregnancy, including V22.0, V23.9 and 633.00.
For example, V22.0 refers to a woman's first pregnancy. V23.9 is used to indicate that a patient's pregnancy is considered high risk. An ectopic pregnancy is coded as 633.00. However, the codes that are used for pregnancy are changing with the implementation of the ICD-10, according to ICD9Data. This version is required in all medical offices by October 2015.
