The ideal bust, waist and hip measurements for a woman in a lot of western countries are generally 36 inches by 24 inches by 36 inches, with the bust and hips similar sizes. However, there are other variables to consider, including the height, body shape and weight of the woman.

Some of the body shapes common for women include apple shaped, banana shaped, pear shaped and the hourglass figure, with banana shaped being the most dominant according to a North Carolina State University study done in 2005 of 6,000 women. Hourglass is usually the most accepted shape of women in Western countries.
