Whose image appears on a $5 bill?

The image of President Abraham Lincoln appears on the $5 bill. Anthony Berger took the picture of President Lincoln that has been used for this denomination of American money since 2007. Another picture taken the same day, Feb. 9, 1864, was used for $5 bills before the year 2007.

President Lincoln's picture first appeared on the front of the $5 note in 1914. The back of the $5 bill contains a picture of the Lincoln Memorial. United States pennies also use a profile of President Lincoln taken during the same sitting as the pictures on both the old and new $5 notes.
