The negative effects of European imperialism in Africa include loss of independence, slavery, disunity among Africans, exploitation of resources and deterioration of African culture. The positive impacts include introduction of trade, education, new religion and new administration system.
European imperialism in Africa led to slavery as African were used as workers and laborers for the whites. Africans were forced to abandon their culture to adopt the western culture. Europeans exported most of the resources in Africa cheaply and sold them costly, which benefited them. Colonialism also had different positive impacts. It introduced new administration systems that improved governance. It brought western education, which enlightened many Africans. Imperialism also introduced trade allowing Africans to get new goods and exchange their surplus products.
