The ingredients in Murphy Oil Soap are not harmful when used as directed. Murphy Oil Soap contains sodium tallate, trisodium MGDA and lauramidopropyl dimethylamine oxide, and none of these ingredients are harmful to pets when the product is used as a floor cleaner, according to GoodGuide.
When ingested, studies show a risk of toxicity. Animals are unlikely to experience toxicity from licking a surface cleaned using the product, but can experience toxicity if the product is ingested. Ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, The National Institutes of Health indicates. Do not allow pets access to the product or open containers of product solution.
