How do you install the threshold on tile?

Installing a threshold on tile requires a tape measure, a 3/8-inch notched trowel, premixed thinset, a broom or vacuum, caulk, a caulking gun and a sponge. Although thresholds come in a variety of different materials, they all install the same way. The installation takes 30 minutes to an hour.
Measure the doorway
Measure between the casings of the doorway, adding 1/8 inch of space on each side for expansion.
Purchase the threshold
Purchase a threshold that matches the measurement. If the exact size is not available, most stores can cut the threshold to size, or you can cut the threshold yourself with a tile wet saw.
Clean the area and set the threshold
Vacuum or sweep the area where you are laying the threshold. Apply the premixed thinset directly to the threshold. Center the threshold between the door casings, and press it down 1/8 inch from where the tile ends. Allow to set for 24 hours.
Caulk around the threshold
Load caulk into the caulking gun, and insert a bead of caulk around the threshold. Fill in the space left between the threshold and the tile. Use your finger to smooth the caulk. Clean up any excess caulk and wipe the area with a damp sponge.
