What are some interesting facts about the NAACP?

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, also known as NAACP, was founded in 1909 by a group of black and white liberal intellectuals in New York. The NAACP is considered to be the most influential civic rights organization in the United States.

The NAACP published its own magazine in 1910 called The Crisis, the purpose of which was to serve as a forum for the discussion of racial inequity in America. W.E.B. Du Bouis, a famous black leader, edited this magazine for years.

The NAACP was heavily involved in the landmark Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka in 1954, in which racial segregation was ruled to be unconstitutional.
