Who invented the bridle bit?

The first evidence of a bridle with the bit was between the 8th and 14th centuries. This would make the invention of the bridle fall between the Iron and Bronze Ages.

The bridle was discovered in Mesopotamia (Iran). Before this, there was evidence of bridle bits made from other materials. The original bridles were made from bone, rope, rawhide and other deteriorating materials. When metal was discovered, it replaced the original materials used. The bridle was very reminiscent of modern bridles. The pieces consisted of a mouthpiece, a metal bar and cheek pieces. The craftsmanship of the bridles suggests that metal working was greatly developed.
