Who invented the bus?

Blaise Pascal of France first proposed the idea of the bus in 1662. However, the first motorized bus was likely the one designed by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney of Great Britain in 1830.
Pascal proposed that a series of coaches should run routes around Paris, and he was able to convince King Louis XIV to grant a monopoly. However, while the coaches were initially used by many people, they lost popularity by 1675 when the routes were eventually stopped.
Sir Gurney's design used a steam engine for a stagecoach. By 1895, Germany had created its own version, but it used a standard single-cylinder engine rather than steam.
