It is not known for certain who invented the ice cube. Doctor John Gorrie built a refrigerator in 1844 to aid his yellow fever patients. Some historians believe that this refrigerator contained some form of ice cube tray because he gave his patients iced drinks.
Fred Wolf's "Domestic Electric Refrigerator," which was produced in 1914, definitely contained a simple ice cube tray. By the 1920s and 1930s ice cube trays were commonplace in refrigerators. In 1933, Guy Tinkham invented the first flexible ice tray, made out of stainless steel, in which pressure on the tray at its division-points would eject the ice cubes.
