Who invented time?

Time was not invented in the same way that an object like the telephone was. It is more accurate to say that human beings first noticed the passage of time by the passage of the sun, moon and stars in the prehistoric era some 30,000 years ago. The ancient Babylonians first developed a mathematical system based on the number 60 and a year of 360 days, by around 1600 B.C.E.
Ancient Egyptians were known to have built sundials as early as 1500 B.C.E. However, in ancient times, basing the measurement of time on celestial bodies was seasonal. With the invention of the pendulum by Galileo Galilei, in the 17th century, the concept of time began to change and become more precise and consistent across the world.
