What is involved in installing an electric furnace?

An existing compatible duct system must be in place to connect an electric furnace to. The new electric furnace also needs a suitable power outlet to connect to and the right type of connectors.
Electric furnaces require a unique type of power outlet that is wired to prevent them from blowing fuses or tripping circuit breakers in the house when they power up. If the furnace is going into a new home or is replacing an existing gas furnace, the electrical system should also be tested first to ensure it can handle the load.
A contractor can usually install a new furnace in a day, and the cost for labor is usually several hundred dollars.
