It is best to get the mileage allowance figures directly from the IRS to ensure it is accurate information for the year the taxes are being filed. These figures can change year to year so one risks getting incorrect information if they obtain them from other websites.
For the year 2015, the mileage allowance will be increasing slightly, according to the Internal Revenue Service. In 2014, 56 cents per mile driven for business purposes was allowed and that is increasing to 57.5 cents per mile for 2015. The mileage allowance for medical purposes is going down half a cent though to 23 cents per mile.
