Who issues a traffic ticket?

A police officer generally issues a traffic ticket. The ticket may include one or more traffic violations where each violation has a corresponding numeric code, brief description, amount of penalty and arraignment due date. A driver who receives a traffic ticket can either plead guilty or not guilty to the violation.
A ticket, also called a traffic citation, can be in three forms: parking, infraction traffic or misdemeanor traffic. During a citation, a law officer typically asks for an individual's driver's license, car registration papers and insurance documents. In some instances, a person may be required by the enforcer to step out of the vehicle.
