What is the Iver Johnson M1 Carbine?

The Iver Johnson M1 Carbine is a semi-automatic carbine originally designed to fire the shortened .30 caliber cartridge. Iver Johnson was one of several companies to produce the M1 Carbine. It produced the gun from 1978 to 1992.

The M1 Carbine was first built during World War II. It was designed as an in-between weapon for troops who required more than a sidearm but less than a rifle. Weighing less than 6 pounds and just short of 3 feet in length, it offered greater range and accuracy but was relatively light and maneuverable. Iver Johnson produced several variations on the original design and offered the gun in five separate calibers: .30, .22, .22 Magnum, 5.7 millimeter and 9 millimeter.
