When J. B. Hunt was founded, the company had seven refrigerated trailers, five trucks and transported rice hull in northwest Arkansas. By 1983, the company had grown to include 1,049 trailers, 550 tractors and had approximately 1,050 employees. As of 2015, J. B. Hunt provides transportation services through the continental United States, Canada and Mexico, and the company has service agreements with most North American rail carriers to transport truckload freight.
