What do Jackson's chameleons eat?

The Jackson's chameleon subsists on a variety of insects, such as crickets, mealworms and flies. Some Jackson's chameleons eat plant matter although this varies on an individual basis. It is important for owners to gut load insects with fresh food, minerals and vitamins before feeding them to the chameleon.

The Jackson's chameleon grows up to 13 inches in length and lives between five and 10 years in captivity. As a territorial animal, it must be housed individually rather than with others. The Jackson's chameleon prefers daytime temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. A basking spot that reaches no more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit may be used.
