Was Jesus black?

Jesus most likely had an olive-toned complexion. The Bible states that Jesus was the Jewish son of a woman from Nazareth in an area known as "Israel" in the modern world, an area in which most people had olive skin rather than the complexion of people from sub-Saharan Africa.
Theories have arisen about the race of Jesus for reasons of modern prejudice and stereotyping. Aryan Jesus arose from anti-Semitism, which focused on removing the Jewish origins from the Christian figurehead. Theories of a black Jesus potentially developed from the idea that Israelites descended from Africans moving into Israel; therefore, all Israelites, including Jesus, were a black race. No consensus exists.
