Examples of jobs a 16-year-old can get include tutoring, retail part-time jobs, restaurant and food service jobs and grocery jobs. Many of these jobs require manual labor, which is something that suits most young people, according to Forbes.

Many 16-year-old individuals looking for a job are still in high school, which means they can only work part-time. Even though these jobs do not have much potential for advancement, some starter positions may offer experience for a future career.

There were 20.1 million employed 16- to 24-year-olds in the United States according to a 2014 Employment and Unemployment Among Youth Summary report released by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. As of 2015, the highest paying summer jobs available for teenagers are lifeguarding, babysitting, product merchandising, pet sitting and golf caddying, as noted by Insider Monkey.
