According to a 2009 report by Forbes, John Adams' favorite hobby was political philosophy. In 1776, the second president of the United States released "Thoughts on Government." This pamphlet was later used as a guide during the creation of state constitutions.

During his childhood, Adams enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing to the point where he sometimes missed school. After graduating from Harvard College in 1755, Adams proceeded to study law between 1756 and 1758 as an apprentice to a prominent lawyer in Worchester. Under George Washington, Adams served as vice president and was appointed to the position in 1789.
