John F. Kennedy's official campaign slogan was "A Time for Greatness," which appeared in his campaign brochure for the election of 1960 and in many of his promotional materials. He additionally used the slogans "We can do better" and "Let's get this country moving again."
The "greatness" in Kennedy's slogan refers to the extensive qualifications he believed himself to have gained from his service as a Navy sailor in the South Pacific and as a U.S. senator from Massachusetts. Kennedy further believed that his experiences in foreign policy, in relation to the Soviet bloc, would make him an effective president.
