Katie Couric's syndicated daytime show "Katie" was cancelled after two seasons due to poor ratings. Couric's talk show also cost as much as $40 million per year. At the time of cancellation, the show was struggling with its identity since Couric wanted it to have a more journalistic approach.
"Katie" received strong ratings in the beginning of its run, but the number of viewers slipped during the first season. Disney/ABC announced the show's end in December 2013, and production continued until June 2014. In 2014, Couric closed a deal with Yahoo to report daily news online in an attempt to revive her journalism career.
