How do you keep mistletoe fresh?

Mistletoe can be kept fresh by being stored in the refrigerator. Mistletoe can also be kept fresh by being misted with water daily.

Keeping mistletoe from direct heat will also lengthen its life. Use the steps below to preserve it with moisture.

1. Bunch it together

After receiving or cutting the mistletoe, bunch a sprig of it together and tie the end with floral wire.

2. Hang it

Hang the mistletoe upside down and spray it each morning with water to keep it moist and green.

3. Wash hands after handling

After mistletoe has been handled, it is important for hands to be washed thoroughly with soap and hot water, as mistletoe plants are poisonous.
