Keesler Air Force Base, located in Biloxi, Mississippi, hosts the electronics training center for the United States Air Force. More than 28,000 students train at the base each year.

Keesler Air Force Base is named after Second Lieutenant Samuel Reeves Keesler, Jr., who died in France during World War I after being captured by German ground troops.

Keesler Air Force Base was established in 1941, in the midst of World War II, in order to assist in the training efforts as the United States entered the war.

When construction began on Keesler Air Force Base, it marked the most expensive government project in Mississippi history.
