Actor Ken Curtis was also the lead singer of the band Sons of the Pioneers from 1949 to 1953. Major hits for this group while Curtis was a member include "Room Full of Roses" and "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky."
Ken Curtis also performed with the Tommy Dorsey band in his earlier years and at one time replaced Frank Sinatra as a vocalist for the group. Prior to singing in Sons of the Pioneers, Curtis also briefly sang with Shep Fields and His New Music. Ken Curtis was perhaps most famous for his acting, playing Festus Haggen on the television show "Gunsmoke."
