Is ketchup bad for you?
By Forinfos - 01/02/2026 - 0 comments
Eating a large amount of commercial ketchup can be considered bad because of the high levels of sugar and also the amount of high fructose corn syrup. Eating commercial ketchup in moderation will not cause any serious health problems.
Ketchup is made of tomatoes, water, vinegar, salt, spices and sugar such as high fructose corn syrup. One tablespoon of commercial ketchup contains four grams of sugar on average. Homemade ketchup allows the amount of sugar to be controlled, and allows for sugar substitutes to make a healthier ketchup. Organic and low-sugar brands of ketchup are available, and salsa or other tomato-based sauces can be used as an alternative.
