Children typically lose their first and second primary molars between the ages of 6 and 12. Usually children lose their incisors before losing their cuspids or molars.
Children lose their primary teeth, or baby teeth, at varying times. The average age of shedding the central incisors is between 6 and 8 years. Children generally lose the lateral incisors between 7 and 8 years and the cuspids between 9 and 12 years. The first and secondary primary molars are commonly shed between 10 and 11 years. Ultimately, children lose all primary teeth, and eventually 32 permanent (adult) teeth grow in their place.
