Maggot crop infestations can also be remedied with chemical insecticide sprays. Insecticides work to kill live maggots and prevent new larvae development. Sprinkling lime, table salt or vinegar over swarming trash can maggots allows for safe eradication of the insects and new larvae. Cleaning trash cans with a solution of vinegar and water can help to inhibit subsequent infestations.
