Maggots can get into carpet if food is left rotting on the carpet. Adult flies will lay their eggs in the food and maggots will emerge once the eggs hatch. Maggots only feed on dead or decomposing material so their source of food is often easy to locate by smell alone. In order to clean up this type of infestation, the carpet must be thoroughly cleaned and treated with a disinfectant. A vacuum will pull all the maggots buried inside of the carpet into a storage bag for easy disposal.
