How do you get coffee out of carpet?

Remove fresh coffee spills from carpet by blotting the coffee with an absorbent towel, rinsing the area with a small amount of water and applying a cleaning solution. For best results, begin the coffee removal process as soon as you discover the spill. Allow the carpet to dry overnight.

1. Blot the coffee

   Use a fresh towel or paper towels to blot up as much of the coffee as possible. Avoid spreading the stain by Wait until the towel no longer picks up moisture before applying cleaning solutions.

2. Rinse the stain

   Fill a spray bottle with water, and spray the area so that the carpet is wet again. Repeat the blotting process. Continue spraying and blotting until most of the stain disappears.

3. Apply a cleaning solution

   Mix 1/4 cup of vinegar and a squirt of liquid dishwashing soap with 2 cups warm water. Apply this solution using a damp sponge. Rub the solution through the stained carpet fibers using the fingers. Allow the solution to stand a few minutes, and blot it with a towel. Use water to rinse the stain and a towel for drying a third time.

4. Dry the carpet

   Provide enough time for the carpet to air dry while keeping traffic away from the wet spot.
