You can remove lipstick stains from carpet quickly using a dry-cleaning solvent, dishwashing soap and vinegar. Gather a large supply of clean rags and a dull object that can scrape away the excess lipstick. Blot the stain with solvent, and use a cleaning solution to remove the remaining lipstick from your carpet. Dry the area, and then vacuum. The entire process may take an hour or two.
- Scrape away any excess lipstick
Use a dull object, such as a butter knife, to remove as much of the excess lipstick as possible.
- Apply a dry-cleaning solvent
Use a clean white cloth to avoid any color transfer when cleaning. Apply dry-cleaning solvent to the stain. Start in the center of the stain, and work toward the edges.
- Blot the stain
Using a clean cloth, blot the solvent and lipstick. Continue applying more solvent and blotting the stain until most of the stain is gone or a clean cloth no longer picks up more color.
- Use a water based cleaning solution to clean the area
Mix 1 tablespoon of vinegar, a little mild detergent and 2 cups of warm water. Apply it to the stain with a sponge, and use the blotting technique to absorb any remaining color.
- Rinse the spot
Use cold water to rinse the remaining soap from the fibers. Dry the area by pressing down on it with a clean towel. Vacuum the carpet once the treated area is dry.
