The kind of doctor that works with reducing eye pressure is known as an ophthalmologist. This eye doctor has extensive training to offer different eye care services. Some ophthalmologists choose to pursue training in a subspecialty area of ophthalmology such as glaucoma, which involves eye pressure.
These eye doctors can also conduct an eye examination, perform eye surgery, diagnose and treat eye conditions, and prescribe contact lenses and eye glasses. Eye pressure can occur due to ocular hypertension or glaucoma. Ophthalmologists do not consider ocular hypertension as a disease but recommend monitoring the patients to prevent the condition from advancing to glaucoma.
