The DocFind feature on Aetna's company website helps customers locate doctors, dentists, hospitals and other health care professionals who accept specific Aetna plans. Assistance in finding in-network doctors keeps costs low for patients, because they are able to avoid non-participating medical personnel.

To use DocFind, the patient identifies a doctor's name, speciality, specific procedure or condition, according to Aetna. Specialties include allergy and immunology, dermatology, and neurology. Examples of procedures are bone density scans, colonoscopies and flu shots. Cardiac arrhythmia, kidney stones, osteoporosis and sinus infections are a few of the many possible inputs for conditions.

Patients must also list a city and state or ZIP code, hit Search and choose their Aetna plan from a pull-down menu, the company instructs. After they select Continue, a listing of associated medical providers appears.
