The kinds of sovereignty in the United States are tribal governments, federal governments and state governments. The Declaration of Independence was written to maintain the sovereignty of the United States, and sovereignty is defined as the right, power and authority of a nation or people for self-governing.
A tribal government has its own tribal laws that adhere to limits set by Congress, and the laws are applicable to the specific tribal community. The federal government has its power based on the U.S. Constitution. State governments have their own state constitutions and laws covering issues not under the federal government's jurisdiction.
