Are all Kmart stores scheduled to close?

As of 2015, not all Kmart locations are scheduled to close. However, the retailer had 2,165 locations in 2000, and it has only 979 locations as of June 2015.
Kmart experienced a 67 percent plunge in sales during the same period, dropping from $37.1 billion to $12.1 billion. One of the retailers that benefits most from the downfall is Target, which nearly doubled its sales in the same time frame, according to CNN Money.
Once one of America's leading discount retailers, Kmart first filed for bankruptcy in 2002 and has been operated by Sears Holdings since 2003. In 2014, the company closed 234 Sears and Kmart stores due to financial difficulties.
