What is a Kunming dog?

The Kunming Wolfdog is a wolf-dog hybrid that is often compared to the German Shepherd. The Kunming comes in colors from a light straw color to a deep rust with a black saddle and muzzle. The tail raises high and curls, especially when the Kunming is excited.

The Kunming Wolfdog was created in the early 1950s in Yunnan, China to be used for military purposes. After its initial use in Germany, the dog was utilized in Bejing before the Chinese military and police began to use them in the 1980s. Kunming Wolfdogs are now used by civilians for protection as guard dogs and watch dogs.
