What does KVA stand for?

KVA stands for KiloVolt Ampere, which is a unit of electrical power. KVA or VA is a measurement of apparent power. A KVA is equivalent to 1,000 volt-amperes.
The volt is the electrical pressure, and the ampere is the electrical current. Watts are the measure of real power or the amount of power that can be drawn from a device. When voltage and electrical current correspond, apparent power and real power are equal. However, when there are differences between the voltage and electrical current, watts and voltage amperes differ. While the electrical current remains operational, less real power is transmitted, creating a shortfall. This ratio is called the power factor.
