What is a labor board?

The labor board is a government agency that investigates labor practices and makes decisions for labor unions. The labor board, also called the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), includes five people as the General Counsel, a President, and a Senate.

The labor board accepts charges and complaints from employers, union representatives, and employees who believe they are victims of unfair labor practices. The labor board will investigate the matter and attempt to settle it in order to avoid litigation. The labor board usually comes to an agreement with all parties involved, who then don't need to take the matter further. Other cases require the General Counsel to seek help from the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
