A Labor Market Opinion, or LMO, is a document the Canadian government issues to employers wishing to hire foreign workers. The LMO is no longer used, notes Moving2Canada.
The Labor Market Impact Assessment is the government issued document that replaced the LMO. Until June 20, 2014, a temporary foreign worker could get a sponsored work visa by mail or when entering the country after his employer had obtained an LMO
LMOs were used to assess the impact temporary foreign workers would have on the Canadian labor market, though not all temporary foreign workers are required to get a work permit, states Employment and Social Development Canada, or ESDC.
