Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is located in southwestern Alaska. It is not on the road map system and is primarily accessed by small aircraft. The east side of the park is accessible by boat. The visitor center is in Port Alsworth, Alaska.
Situated approximately 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, the park encompasses 4,030,015 acres at the bottom of the Alaska peninsula. A place of great natural beauty and solitude, the park includes glacial lakes, salmon-bearing rivers and two volcanoes.
Lake Clark was made a national monument by President Jimmy Carter on Dec. 1, 1978, and Congress made it a national park and preserve in 1980.
